5 Ways to Fuel a Successful New Year

As the end of 2023 sinks in, we’re reminded of our aspirations and wants for the future. We try to set goals but often end up overwhelmed. There isn’t one magic answer for how to make this year a good one – but here at Lorissa’s Kitchen, we’re sharing five tips to help fuel a successful year! 1. Start a daily ritual

Everyone needs a moment to breathe and do an activity that provides comfort during a busy day. A ritual can be something as simple as taking your favorite route to walk your dog each morning. It’s a time to enjoy yourself and a way to help you relax before or after each day. Try something like:

  • Listen to a new podcast during your work commute or while you’re in the carpool lane
  • Do your nightly skincare routine to the beat of your favorite playlist
  • Work on a crossword puzzle each morning while you eat breakfast

 

2. Create a vision board

Try not to let this one migrate to the back of your closet before this year ends. Explore what really matters to you as we go into the new year! Think about how you want to feel, activities you want to do and places you want to go, then find some images that reflect those and put it on some poster board or in a journal. There are no rules when it comes to collages, so customize it and lead with emotion. Then, display it somewhere it can trigger a sense of urgency and motivation! Vision boards can be a helpful way to visualize goals and get a boost of daily motivation.

 

3. Do a digital declutter

We all know that having a clean space feels good, but don’t forget to clean your digital space! This can mean several things. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Delete old, useless emails and clear out the spam folder that you dread clicking on
  • Less social media time, more you time. Mute your notifications and create blocks of time to keep the screen off limits
  • Simplify your to-do list by signing up for subscriptions for frequently purchased items. If you routinely buy something, why not get it shipped to you? Plenty of companies have their own subscription programs – including Lorissa’s Kitchen!

 

4. Keep a personal journal

Throw a notebook in your backpack or purse and write down important upcoming dates like appointments, family events, friends’ birthdays – every event you want to remember! It might even be a good idea to plan when to check in on friends. For example, if you know your friend has a job interview coming up, make a note to call them and ask how it went! You can also jot down personal diary entries or any interesting thoughts that pop up as you’re going about the day. There are tons of benefits to keeping a personal journal, like:

  • Finding what triggers positive and negative emotions
  • Being able to track personal change and emotional growth
  • Helping lessen stress revolving around important dates

 

5. Make conscious snack decisions

Incorporate more wholesome snacks into your lifestyle to help you feel better from within. Snacking is taken seriously around here, and we find that the simple things are always best – but we love having variety and a range of nutrition, which is why we love making homemade trail mix with almonds, Original Beef Steak Strip bits, and pretzels. Search for snacks that speak to you and don’t be afraid to get creative.

 

Making 2024 a success will mean different things to everyone, but remember that it all starts with taking step a forward and nourishing your body and mind. We hope at least one of these tips speaks to you and helps motivate your success for the new year ahead!
